This 1 day accredited course is designed for those who have a specific responsibility at work, to provide first aid in a range of emergency first aid situations. It will enable learners to act as an appointed person, take charge of the First Aid arrangements, including looking after the equipment, calling for the Emergency Services and confidently dealing with specific first aid situations. It is also ideal for people who have a specific responsibility to provide basic first aid in voluntary and community activities. Learners will complete practical assessments and a final multiple-choice theory paper to demonstrate competency, knowledge and skills in emergency first aid.

This free course (for Lancashire residents) will provide learners with the knowledge and basic lifesaving skills needed to assess and respond to a child or infant that is unresponsive and not breathing. The skills will include how to deliver cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on a child and baby and how to access and use a defibrillator. Learners will also be able to recognise and treat choking. It is also ideal for people who have a specific responsibility to provide first aid in voluntary and community activities. Learners will develop the skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range of first aid situations. New topics include fractures, sprains, strains, spinal and chest injuries, head, spinal and eye injuries, poisoning, anaphylaxis, stroke, asthma, diabetes and more. Learners will complete practical assessments and multiple-choice theory papers to demonstrate competency, knowledge and skills in first aid at work.
