    How will I Learn?

    Your course will be delivered by a subject specialist in a live-online classroom or face-to-face. 

    You will need to be able to access the internet on a device with speakers or earphones (online learning). 

    Some of the course content may also be accessed via our online learning platform. 

    Once you have enrolled onto the course you will be sent further information from your course tutor on how to get started (online learning). 

    Your tutor will be on hand throughout the course to offer you support, feedback and guidance.

Looking at common misconceptions about witchcraft and the reasons for the Pendle Witch trials in Lancaster.     Never before have we had had so many methods of connecting with others as we have now. Yet despite this, many of us often feel isolated and lonely. This course is the first step in improving true connections in your life and the lives of others.
    Connect is one of the Five Ways to Wellbeing, which are evidence-based actions that are the most effective for improving/maintaining our mental health and wellbeing. It will help you identify the kinds of connections that affirm you rather than drain you, equip you with the vital skills to build and maintain meaningful connections with others, boosting your social confidence and wellbeing.
    You will then be better placed to support others who are lonely and isolated, enriching the whole community.

    The course is two and a half hours per session and is delivered over two individual sessions or weeks. This can be adapted to the group as required.

    This Course is designed for face to face community delivery. You will require basic level (level 2) maths and English skills, the ability to read and follow instructions and participate in group discussions.

    This course if for beginners and no prior experience in the subject field is necessary.

    Course Overview:

    Focussing on process over outcome, this taster session is designed to encourage you to connect with your inner-self and the materials through the catharsis of exploring the potential of different brushes and tools to move and manipulate paint in different ways.

    You will discover how to free up your style and begin your journey of self-expression through art.

    You will engage in a range of guided explorations in different media to further your understanding and practice in observing and recording colour for different purposes. You will be facilitated in reflecting on and evaluating outcomes using subject specific terminology and analytical skills. You will participate in group discussions of relevant examples by a range of Artists from different cultures, eras and backgrounds.

    You will be asked to discuss your individual interests, aspirations and experience within the subject and take part in a range of simple exercises and discussions in order to negotiate individual learning goals.     Lancashire Adult Learning (LAL) are working in partnership with North West Ambulance Service, BBC Radio Lancashire and Lancashire County Council to provide free training as part of the #LancashireLifesaver Campaign. Their aim is to train as many people as possible in essential lifesaving skills across the county. This free online session with LAL will provide learners with the knowledge and skills needed if someone suffers a heart attack or a cardiac arrest.
