    This course is designed for online delivery. You will require basic level (level 2) maths and English and ICT skills, the ability to read and follow instructions and participate in group discussions. You will also need a degree of confidence in using online forums and apps such as Padlet and Teams.

    This course if for beginners and no prior experience in the subject field is necessary.

    Course Overview:

    During this course, you will expand your ideas and practice of how to use and apply a variety of acrylic painting techniques in a range of styles.

    You will look at the work of different artists each week and decipher how they have achieved their work, before trying out their media and technique choices.

    By completing this course, you will be introduced to the different applications of acrylic paint.

    You will be introduced to the medium of acrylic paint, it’s properties and potential applications through discussing and analysing the work of other artists, viewing demonstrations and engaging in practical experiments to build competence and understanding of tools, materials, processes and techniques through elaborative interrogation and sharing of experiences and outcomes.

    You will engage in a range of guided explorations of different media and applications using traditional and non – traditional tools and techniques.

    You will be facilitated in reflecting on and evaluating outcomes using subject specific terminology and analytical skills.

    You will discuss the properties of the work of other artists and decipher media, technique, process and personal preference before engaging in the production of informed finished pieces.

    You will be asked to discuss your individual interests, aspirations and experience within the subject and take part in a range of simple exercises and discussions in order to negotiate individual learning goals. This programme is designed with beginners in mind although some learners may have some previous informal learning experience within the overall curriculum area.

    Make your mark - take a look at different ways of exploring drawing and mark making. Work with a range of tools to have fun with drawing and try out different approaches and materials.

    Activities may include: Mark making to music, exploring different tools and materials with varying movement, density and pressure, exploring line quality to convey mood. Building awareness of relevant movements such as abstract and gestural expressionism.
