    This course is aimed at learners who would like to further their creative writing skills beyond the introduction. Learning more about key techniques that will develop their writing style whether it be for personal wellbeing, enjoyment or for publication. Sharing work and discussing what makes good writing and how to develop it is a key element of this course.

    Learners will also reflect on the benefits ‘connecting’ with others and ‘keeping learning’ can bring to your mental health and wellbeing.

  • Experimental Drawing and Painting - Learn the Basics

    This course is designed to serve as a taste of drawing and painting media, techniques and processes through an introduction into experimental drawing and reflective annotation.

    You will engage in a range of guided explorations of wet and dry supports, media and applications using traditional and non – traditional tools and techniques.

    You will be facilitated in reflecting on and evaluating outcomes using subject specific terminology and analytical skills.

    You will participate in group discussions of experimental outcomes by a range of Artists from different cultures, eras and backgrounds. You will discuss the properties of the drawings and decipher media, technique, process and personal preference before engaging in the production of informed finished pieces using combined media and approaches.

    This programme is designed with beginners in mind and no prior experience is necessary, although some learners may have some previous informal learning experience within the overall curriculum area.

    You will be learning over five weekly sessions at 2.5 hours per session, inclusive of tidy up time!

    Your tutor will be available for feedback and Q&A at designated time slots throughout the duration of your course.

    This course if for beginners and no prior experience in the subject field is necessary.

    Course Overview:

    Focussing on process over outcome, this taster session is designed to encourage you to connect with your inner-self and the materials through the catharsis of exploring the potential of different brushes and tools to move and manipulate paint in different ways.

    You will discover how to free up your style and begin your journey of self-expression through art.

    You will engage in a range of guided explorations in different media to further your understanding and practice in observing and recording colour for different purposes. You will be facilitated in reflecting on and evaluating outcomes using subject specific terminology and analytical skills. You will participate in group discussions of relevant examples by a range of Artists from different cultures, eras and backgrounds.

    You will be asked to discuss your individual interests, aspirations and experience within the subject and take part in a range of simple exercises and discussions in order to negotiate individual learning goals. This programme is designed with beginners in mind although some learners may have some previous informal learning experience within the overall curriculum area.

    You will be learning over one weekly session at 2.5 hours, inclusive of tidying away your own materials.

    Course Overview:
    This workshop focuses on visual recording of the senses associated with the current season.

    You will consider how to record colour, texture, line and even how to visually represent the sounds and smells of the season, as you take the time to slow down and notice the world around you.

    You will create a mood board of ideas and visual references that reflect the season.

    You will take the time to think about how the activities have encouraged you to stay grounded in the here and now and how this has affected your wellbeing.

    You will be facilitated in reflecting on and evaluating outcomes using subject specific terminology and analytical skills.
