AAT Level 1 Award in Business Skills

Course Overview

This course is designed for learners seeking the skills and knowledge needed to work in the world of business particularly the accountancy sector. It provides learners with the underpinning knowledge that is required by employees to work in a range of different environments in a business associated with sales and purchases linked to business expenditure and income.

The course will cover a wide range of subject areas to give you a great insight into the business sector. This will enable you to learn new skills or upskill your current skills and qualities.

You will develop essential knowledge of how to carry out administrative tasks such as how to manage information and supporting events as well as know how to apply their knowledge in a variety of industries and job roles.

Once you have completed your first level qualification and complete further qualifications you can apply for an adult apprentice or go into employment. There are currently around 30,000 jobs in the Northwest related to financial accountancy with the average salary averaging £32K once qualified.

Whilst you are qualifying, you could expect to earn around £13 per hour.

What Will I Learn and How Will I be Learning?

You will be completing a number of units of which will be submitted to your teacher.

You will need to have access to a computer and wi-fi.

Entry Requirements

You will complete an initial assessment via email and a discussion with your allocated personal tutor.

This will enable your tutor to plan your learning programme. It is ideal that you have a good level of English and maths due to the level of the course and the course work involved.

You should be able to:

have access to a computer or tablet with an internet connection

write in complete sentences using capital letters, full stops and question marks

plan and write in short paragraphs

identify main points and ideas in a text

follow verbal and written instructions/including numerical information
