Students will hear the language and be able to say a few words and phrases linked to Christmas. You will also have the opportunity to learn a little about the way the Italians celebrate their Christmas season, typical customs and some traditional foods.

How will I Learn?

This short course offers a flavour of the four coastal regions of Green Spain (Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria and the Basque Country). It encourages learners to explore this distinctive part of Spain thanks to its lush green scenery and also with respects to its rich cultural history, unique cultures, and an outstanding gastronomy offering. Learners will also listen to and learn some basic Spanish words and phrases.

Learners will have the opportunity to discover and expand their knowledge of this part of Spain, they will be encouraged to share their experiences in group discussions, while connecting with like-minded people. Learners may find inspiration from the sessions for further individual research and to plan their own trips to some of these places which are mentioned.

No prior knowledge is required, just an interest in people and places and a desire to find out about these special regions of Spain. Learners will leave the sessions equipped with inspiration and resources to explore the topic further.

This course is an introduction to our language and culture classes. It offers a flavour of the target country and language and follows on from the ‘Get by on your travels: the basics’ course. Learners will get acquainted with further key phrases and more basic vocabulary to have the opportunity to get by in the target country and to enjoy the travel experience. In addition, learners will be introduced to some practical information which is useful to travel safely and with more confidence.

Some of the areas may include a few basic aspects of the language to get by such as greetings and introductions, eating out, directions, booking accommodation and medical emergencies. This means that learners will practise speaking in the target language and will get the ongoing opportunity to share their experiences and knowledge.

Learners will listen to a lot of information which can impact on their travelling and are therefore encouraged to take notes for future reference.

Connecting with like-minded people, may open up possibilities and ideas for further travel in the target country. It may also encourage further research and social interaction within the community.

As many aspects of the culture and lifestyle of a country encourages people to talk about, the course encourages you to connect with other class members to share your experiences, do some research yourself and pass on your knowledge to others. Learners could take the inspiration from the class for further individual research and to plan their own trip to some of these localities which are mentioned in class.

No prior knowledge is required just an interest in people and places and a desire to learn about the amazing stories of this county. Learners are encouraged to bring their own stories and research on the topic to share with the group.
